Thank you all for the supporting messages in reply to my first blog.

We shared many bottles last night, his beer and mine wine. We spoke alot, and cried a lot. I am sure that many Fathers out there have had similar experiences, and are all proud as punch, (is it because there is a lot of fighting that we say proud as punch?) and have experiences that they could share, please do reply as I am keen to continue learning about Army experiences, and to feel part of an extended family.<.....

Twelve days to the day my eldest Son leaves to join the Army. 7th of June is his departure date, and I am full of emotions. Sad

I’m now home.
I was in two minds about Mrs WW blogging this.

It’s the first time for quite a while that I have been working away from home, but its like putting on a favorite pair of slippers ( for the slipper wearers amongst you ) its something familiar and reassuring, even if you’re going to get shot at or blown to bits !

There is a complete contrast in the reporting here to that of the BBC, a respectful degree of gravitas from the male newsreader and I swear a near tear from the female co-presenter. And for such a large country it appears to touch everyone even the indigenous fellows.
From this great distance I wonder even more what have we become in Britan ?

WTF..

I’m 50 ,and Ray is about the same ,
so how come a couple of worldly wise/seen it all blokes fall for the “ pilot dying at the controls joke”?
If we knew how we would have opened the window to let the smell out. Go figure……
Funny as fug though , after the event.
We weren’t scared, honest.

Back at the ranch I find my room neat and tidy , everything is laid out just tickerty-boo,and how sweet and considerate of the guy.....

Well we boarded,(more like thrown on ) at Pimba and off we set .The scenery well, its very antipodean. When I was about 8 or 9 I remember being taken to Jenners store to see Santa , part of the experience was a magic train ride, wee kids ( and some not so wee kids ) got in this little carriage and the lights went out , the windows had this endless loop of scenery illuminated depicting a trip to Lapland / northpole running by and along with the rocking of the compartment it gave the illusion t.....

Ray has had the week off and looks better and has been banned from drink for the rest of our stay . MO came to see him and has a chat for about 20 mins . verdict is that considering his service history there is “nothing wrong” with him and can remain – result.

At the induction we had it impressed upon us the dire water shortage out here, I have been asked to remind the lads , a couple of them seem to be happy to take a looooong cooling shower and th.....

Its been a good week I have been chucking water down my neck and sweating it back out much to the satisfaction of the flies ! trials are brilliant ! even my / British proof of concept is out performing the US rebuilt version I feel like Q from the Bond films, it may have been cobbled together in the garden shed from Maplin and RS components, but by jings its doing what it says on the tin, even our sponsor is happy.

Accom very decent indeed they have installed a ramp for me and a simple lift over the bed , shower is massive and aircon ,oh air conditioning , It might be autum here but its bleeding hot, I’ve dialed it around to 11 on the dial , yes I know this country has an energy shortage but…. Ray has found the recreational and eating facilities , I have found the inside of my eyelids , night,night.

Arrived Adelaide, the airline staff attempted to gas us all as we taxied in , spraying pesticide in the cabin is standard practice now . Immigration was fun, not. We went to the desk together, questioned as to where we will be staying, already on the form but it set off alarm bells in Ms Doris’s head , we produced more paperwork to convince her we were not heading for the detention centre but the play ground nearby.. she double checked our e-visa over our working status and do.....

Life at JIB Shornecliff was not pleasent,you felt always under threat,if you did well at anything there was always some prat ready to batter you for brown nosing and vise versa you didnt make the grade you got hammered.
I stayed with the boxing team just for the training,and also joined the cycle team that was great out all day pounding the roads all round kent,I had my own bike sent from home and really got in to taking off any free time i had just to get away from the atmosphere of the .....

Wednesday 18th August 2004

Beth is sitting alone in the conservatory. I am in the kitchen preparing to go out and collect some groceries or something just as trivial. I know she needs to talk but I really don’t know what to say. It wasn’t supposed to be like this; long periods of silence broken only by Beth crying and the dog trying his best to work out what’s wrong.

15. Crow_Bag...the story continues

Evening all,
I got a bit bored sitting in my room, so i thought i'd a new bit to my blog, and it's an excuse for a bit of a rant aswell.

Well, i'm back in rehab (again). After doing a heavy weapons carry/race, it wasn't long only 4 miles carrying 45lbs and 4 GPMGs between 12 of us, but we were racing the other two platoons so pretty much ran the whole way. Afterwards i could hardly walk, as it turns out my leg hadn't healed aswell as i had first thought.
