AR-18

The AR-18 made by Armalite Inc. is a 5.56mm assault rifle originally designed as an improvement to the AR-15 (also developed by Armalite).
The AR-18, and its semi-auto only counterpart, the AR-180 were also manufactured in the UK by Sterling Armaments. Terorists in Northern Ireland obtained a number of these from the USA, (often via NORAID,) and from France.
The AR-18 didn't have much success in sales as a military rifle, but the actions of the SA80 and the Singaporean SAR-80 are based on the AR-18 design.
