Close Target Reconnaissance. TLA for sneaking up on the enemy, counting the number of holes on their boots and then sneaking away. A popular myth persists that during WW2, Johnny Gurkha took CTR to the extreme of feeling the laces on the Japs' boots to determine whether they were Japs or otherwise, before slotting them with silent precision with their Kukhris... like yer do.
