Military variant of the popular Islander in service with the [[AAC]] since 1989 when it replaced the [[Beaver]] in the surveillance and support role in [[Northern Ireland]].

Originally operated by 1 Flt at [[Aldergrove]], the Defenders are now flown by [[651 Sqn AAC]] at [[RAF]]  [[Odiham]], [[Hampshire]] and have since been deployed to [[Iraq]]... probably.

The [[crabs]] also operate the Defender CC2 from [[Northolt]] where the type is used for intelligence support and general communications... probably.
