Petrol Oils & Lubricants
The armed forces in its wisdom calls its POL by a series of TLAs , although it's more like a code to give the user a bit of a clue as to what each is for. These are called Joint Service Designations (JSD) and NATO Codes.
- AL - Miscellaneous Fluids (e.g Alcohol, AL5)
- C - Corrosion Preventative
- F - Fuels (e.g. F34 AVTUR)
- G - Grease
- H - Hydraulic Fluid (e.g. H515)
- LG - Lime-based Grease
- OC - Oil Compounded
- OEP - Oil Extreme Pressure
- OM - Oil Mineral (e.g. OM10)
- OMD - Oil Mineral Detergent
- OX - Oil Miscellaneous (e.g. OX8)
- PX - Protective Miscellaneous (e.g. PX32)
- S - Specialised Products
- XG - Miscellaneous Grease (e.g. XG279)
- ZX - Speciality Miscellaneous
