Once the envy of the civilised world, now a total pile of junk mail. It was once possible to post a letter in London at midday, and have the receiver in Brighton read it by tea - a Victorian version of SMS if you like. This was possible due to the mechanical efficiency of the railway network. Now it is possible to send a letter at noon and for it to disappear forever - no doubt deposited in the nearest Wheelie Bin that the illiterate Nigerian 'communications operative' could find.

No amount of corporate re-branding and managerial rethinking in the World can put right the wrongs of successive governmental vandalism that has resulted in this fine institution being reduced from the Premiership of communications in to the Golden Wheataflakes Sunday League - unless Bundespost buy it out... probably.
