The name for a very small number of troops from opposing armies getting it on in a warry way. If they were getting it on in a naughty way it would be called Big Boys in Boots Volume 3.

Well, technically ... they dont NEED to be from opposing armies to qualify for the term skirmish. However...

  • If they are friendly and its a firefight, this will lead on to a Friendly Fire incident.
  • If its simply a punch up in the pub; this will lead to journos getting all self righteous in the tabloid press the next day.
  • If its the Pakistanis taking pot shots at Spams in hot pursuit of Terry Taliban across the border, its a diplomatic incident.
