The T-64 main battle tank looks very similar to the T72 that followed it. The design was intended to provide Soviet forces with a new type of tank to field in numbers.

The T-64 would go on to be replaced by the more successful T72 in all these roles including that of the Red Army's frontline main battle tank.

Rumour has it that thanks to the glorious Motherlands design bureau, the T-64 required to be driven by a left handed dwarf. They should be thankful he didn't need to be a Gwar as well! The version I heard (from a Ukrainian ex-tankie now living here in the UK) was that the auto-loader had a naughty habit of taking the gunners right arm off if he wasn't careful. He was adamant, said he knew of 15-plus blokes back in the Rodina who had one arm missing as a result of this.

Further rumour has it that a Molotov Cocktail tossed carelessly onto the engine decking would ignite leaking oil. This would in turn trigger the internal fire extinguishers that were poisonous causing the crew to bail faster than a chav heading down to the Post Office to cash his giro.

Sorry to be a pedant, but isn't that a T62 in the pictures?
