Major Events

The following major events took place in 1812:

Napoleon and the French Grand Armee invade Russia on 23 June and impressively for the French go on to capture large chunks of Russia and even put Moscow to the torch before returning to type and providing another perfect example of Yet another occasion when the slovenly Frogs were given a richly deserved slapping and were all kicked out of Russia by 14 December.

Just to rub sat into the wounds, Tchaikovsky wrote an Overture to celebrate the fact in 1880.
