1939-45 Star

Awarded to British & Commonwealth forces who had completed 6 months service overseas in specified operational areas between September 1939 & September1945. The minimum qualifying period was reduced in certain cases and death, injury, capture, award of a decoration or mention in despatches qualified immediate entitlement. The clasp, Battle of Britain was awarded to all aircrew who took part in the battle. When the ribbon alone is worn, the award of the clasp is denoted by a small gilt rosette.
