Awarded to British & Commonwealth aircrew for 2 months operational flying from the United Kingdom between 3 September 1939 & 4 June 1944. Entitlement to the Atlantic or France & Germany Star was denoted by the wearing of the respective clasp on the ribbon of this medal. The award of clasps is denoted by a silver rosette when the ribbon alone is worn.
The most scarce of the WWII stars, the named South African issues are extremely rare and of consequence, are highly sought after by collectors.
