Death Flower

Death Flower is the rather colourful term the Spams (or perhaps Spam Journos) have given to the Iraqi Army/police's tendency to fire wildly in all directions in response to incoming fire.

This is the defensive equivalent of the rather more offensive Pray and Spray.

Obviously the Iraqi army/police are not dependant for resupply of ammunition from the MoD otherwise they might be a little more circumspect about unloading downrange ... Hell down, up, left and rightrange for that matter!

Also known as the "lead umbrella". Sadly, our Iraqi chooms haven't yet realised that it tends to stop the CASEVAC helicopters getting in to pick up their wounded ......
