Field

Field: Big green thing with sporadic trees and foliage. May be rather dirty and frequently subject to water falling from the high (apparantly vaulted) ceiling. Given added context in Military speak. To be in the field to be on exercise or deployment.

If you are told you will be equipped in the field, this is likely a blatant lie. You should immediately steal whatever you require from the nearest septic unit (whose government is used to the constant pilfering of Toms and merely fiddle our VISA card interest rates to cover the shortfall). Ideally the theft should be so brazen and cheeky that other spam quartermasters should thank their god of storing that it wasn't them.

Within The Royal Artillery, the Field branch is the one with the big guns and rockets, as opposed to the AD branch which had the anti-aircraft missiles.
