Fixed-wing

From ARRSEpedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Fixed-wing aircraft are aircraft which have wings either side of a fuselage, with engines (Jet, Prop) either on the wings or somewhere on the fuselage.

They are much faster than helicopters but with the added speed comes the issue of requiring long runways to be able to land and take-off, whereas helicopters can take off from a single point without haveing to build up speed.

However aircraft like the V-22 Osprey are kinda making a mockery of this designation. 061117b_lg.jpg v22.jpg
