Mid Period Appraisal Report

Official:

You should get one of these at the 6 month point in between your OJAR / SJAR and is a little less formal in scope.

It's really to give you a chance to sort out problems before your main report hoves into view, and your chance to raise minor grievances or perhaps discuss future career or posting possibilities with your OC.

Actual:

A largely ignored paperwork (or, now, JPA-work) exercise completed whenever your boss gets nagged at by his boss for not having done it yet and manages to find 5 minutes to tell you what an arrse you have been making of yourself (your Platoon / Troop / Squadron Sergeant will normally do this, of course.) Completely mythological in many units.
