Michael Robert Ryan
27-year-old Michael Robert Ryan, an unemployed labourer, was the bloke who decided to liven up the sleepy Berkshire town of Hungerford on the afternoon of August 19th 1987.
At time of the shooting, Ryan lived alone with his mother who worked as a dinner lady at the local primary school. The resulting massacre was entirely her fault.
Young Michael was a bit of a mong and a mummy’s boy, and when she said to him “Michael, love, shot down the shops for a loaf of bread”, well, the rest is history, isn’t it?
