Operation OVERLORD

The D Day Allied invasion of German-occupied Europe on 6 June 1944.
The invasion was planned for years beforehand and was split into an airborne landing including the assault on Pegasus Bridge, followed by an amphibious assault along the Normandy coast.
The landings were at the following beaches and carried out by these formations:-
- Utah - US 4th Infantry Division
- Omaha - US 1st Infantry Division
- Gold - British 50th Division
- Juno - Canadian 3rd Division
- Sword - British 3rd Division
