The boss was in trouble .......

The Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt, had told the meejah we were stretched and our presence in Iraq wasn't helping the security situation.

Rumour had it his first words to TCB when he became CGS were "don't start any more wars you cnut".

Shining examples of probity in public life, such as David Blunkett were calling for him to be sacked; the papers didn't know which way to turn.

Then, as one, the journos happened upon a thread on ARRSE.

The World realised most politicians are cnuts, and we would follow the boss anywhere.

As a welcome aside, the personal esteem of valued ARRSEr The Matelot was increased hugely after he was described as a "soldier".
