Shouldn't this be in rations? Absolutely not. Shredded Wheats are the insoles issued with British Army boots since the dawn of time. Interesting bits of equipment: they don't make your boots more comfortable, and neither do they significantly cushion your feet against the wear and tear of trogging around Sennybridge with a large heavy bergan on your back. In fact, their only purpose seems to be to collect an interesting, foul-smelling, biological sludge, mostly comprising dead skin cells, Athlete's Foot fungus and swamp mud from various Training areas. This can either be periodically washed out, or scraped off into an envelope and posted to the Defence NBC Centre at Porton Down and used in biological warfare experiments.
