The ability to survive.
Usually broken down into decreasing layers of defence - detection, distraction, deflection, protection.
- Detection - the ability to remain undetected, hence surviving by not becoming a target.
- Distraction - the ability to confuse any possible threat (smoke, flares, soft kill defensive system etc).
- Deflection - the ability to deflect or destroy an incoming threat (e.g. hard kill defensive system or reactive armour).
